Book Review: The Dark Knight: Featuring Production Art and Full Shooting Script

The Dark Knight Featuring Production Art and Full Shooting ScriptThe product description under at editorial review at amazon.com wasn't helpful at all. Sure it mentioned on the cover the original script was included, but I wasn't expecting it to take up 176 pages. That leaves only 64 pages of art. There's a page-flipping video after the photos.

I rated this book 2 stars on amazon.com.

The 64 pages of art are of top notch quality featuring extremely high resolution concept art, movie stills and great storyboards. If not for that, I have no doubt I would have given this book 1 star.

Where the script starts is where the book begins its downward descent. If the publisher was to sell the art pages separately as a separate book, I would gladly pay half the price for it. The shooting script is not helpful unless you're planning to remake the movie yourself, and if you think you can shoot it better than C. Nolan.

This is a movie made from a comic book series. I'm frankly amazed that there is so little art.

At the time I bought the book, there weren't any consumer reviews out yet. Now, these reviews are available to help you make the correct decision.

I've never bought a book after flipping a few pages, immediately feel like returning it straight away.

  1. I agree 100%. Had I the chance to flip through this book in a store before buying online, I would have passed on it.
I am even suspect if the script is the as written original or a transcript of the films dialogue after production.

  2. yea my brother got me this along with the dvdfor xmas and i also didnt realise the script wouild take up the majority of the book. I was expecting it to be heavily weighted in terms of concept and production art. Slightly disappointing as just printing the script doesnt do justice to this fantastic movie.
