Thanks for your comments in my blog. Actually the bird looks 'fat' only when I am near...its feathers stand up to make it look bigger, a form of self-defence, just like our hairs stand when we are scared........
As for how father bird can lay eggs, the one who lay eggs is the mother, while the one nesting the eggs is the father.....my mum spotted another bird occasionally besides the nesting one, which could be the mother.....
The rats are from the upcoming Pixar movie, Ratatouille :) Saw the preview on Cars DVD :)
